BACKGROUND
The Jupiter
Trading Corporation was formed in 1994 to distribute branded
products to local mines and industries. Initially the aim was to
service the local fraternity but certain requirements within the
customer base created opportunities to be explored. Investment
capital was ploughed into research regarding heat stress management
and general employee wellbeing. The developing of products to
address the abovementioned problems was compiled with the assistance
of Gold Fields South Africa and Anglo American. The success of the
campaign was proven when employee’s lives were saved during the
Kloof Gold Mine disaster in 1995.
CUSTOMER RELATIONS
The company
understands the importance of the creation of long-term customer
relationships and therefore believes in developing and fostering
mutually beneficial partnerships. Over the years Jupiter strived to
source or to develop tailor made products for our customers when
necessary. Numerous new customers were added to our base through
this mutually beneficial relationship eg. Billiton. Fully trained
marketing and administrative staff are ensuring a holistic
relationship with vendors. A standard within the Jupiter Trading
Group is to deliver Just-In-Time. We strive to carry the necessary
stock for our customers. These systems enhance efficient inventory
control and assist our vendors to carry the minimum stock.
CUSTOMER BASE
We are serving
the industrial and mining community and names such as Anglo,
Angloplats, Goldfields, Billiton, Samancor, Kumba, Arcellor Mittal
and Highveld Steel etc. are prominent since our existence.
Our customer’s
logistical requirements enable Jupiter to render a professional
marketing and back up service all year round.
Marketing
personnel calls on customers every 6-8 weeks to ensure quality
training and service.
PRODUCTS
Products
initially developed for Gold Fields and Anglo American included
Enerforce and Monati Phuza. The energy formules and soya based food
are manufactured by our sister company, Food for Africa cc. These
products enable customers to maintain employees well being in areas
where heat stress and environmental factors influence production.
The purpose of these products is to enhance energy levels and
maintain immune system.
The JT Works
safety footwear range was developed during 2001 by ourselves under
our logo and is imported from the East. All our footwear bears the
International CSA standard (Canadian standard) or CE standard which
complies with the highest quality and safety standards in the world
and is a rewarded product with an international stamp of approval.
The range is developed around the South African feet. We are born
with broad feet which make the range unique in the sense that the
steel toe fitted rise per size to suit broad feet. During 2003 a
product named JT Billi was developed in conjunction with Billiton.
This unique safety shoe was developed with a built in metatarsal to
protect feet against falling objects. This shoe is widely used
within their group as well as in and around South Africa.
SOCIAL IMPACT
Over the last
decade Jupiter envisage a need within and outside our local
community. Apart from giving out donations we aided numerous
communities when in need eg. the Stilfontein Mine closure. Our aim
is to assist where possible materially but endeavour to equip
organisations and people in need with the necessary intellectual
capital.

BEE
Although we
are a family business we endeavour to place as much as possible
business through fully fledged BEE companies eg. Afrox, Ubunye
Traders and the Imbali Group. Jupiter Trading trade under a Pty Ltd
and is striving to enhance our BEE status. B Wise Accreditation cc
has been appointed in assisting us to comply with the necessary
standard. We are currently accredited with a level 3 status.
